COME AS YOU ARE

Isaiah 54:10 "For the mountains may move and the hills disappear, but even then my faithful love for you will remain. My covenant of blessing will never be broken," says the Lord who has mercy on you.

One of the wonderful things about being one of God's children is that we don't need to pretend or to feel we have to perform before we come to Him. No, our loving Father tells us to come to Him any time, just as we are. Whether we're weak or strong, whether we feel a failure or full of joy, whether we're fearful or faithful, sick or well, God wants us to come to Him whatever state we're in and know we'll be received with love and mercy and His arms are wide open. I don't know about you but I find that so reassuring.

God knows everything about us and He knew it before we were saved. He made it possible for us to be cleansed by the blood of Jesus and He now sees us in the perfection of the Lord Jesus, clothed in His righteousness and He says we can ask for His forgiveness any time knowing it's already done.

Another reason God gives us to come to Him is because in His presence is fullness of joy and pleasures evermore! Maybe we've forgotten that bit, or don't quite believe it, but it's true. (Psalm 26:11)

It's easy to get wound up when something goes wrong, or someone presses our 'grumpy' button and we feel huffy but it's at those times especially God wants us to go and spend some time with Him. He wants to unruffle our feathers, to pour His peace in and let us know how much we're loved by Him. So when others are unkind or unhelpful or treat us badly we can know God's love for us has never changed and never will.

Scripture tells us that the blood of Jesus cleanses us and the Word cleanses us too. (1 John 1:7, Ephesians 5:26-27) So if you feel like you've picked up some bad attitudes, or you just don't 'feel right', then come to the throne of grace and find His cleansing, His washing of the Word and know He says you are still the righteousness of God in Christ and He still wants to lavish His love on you.

Or maybe you're just overflowing with a grateful, thankful heart for all His goodness, but however it is, just come as you are.😊

Hebrews 4:16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
