THE LORD IS DIRECTING OUR STEPS

Psalm 37:23 The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.

One of my neighbours takes her dog for a walk each day but when she comes to a crossroads in the path, if the dog doesn’t want to follow along the path she chooses, it just sits down and refuses to go anywhere until she goes the way he wants to go! The dog is directing her steps!

Our verse today reminds us that we have God directing our footsteps and because He delights in every detail of our lives and He loves us, we can be sure He will only lead us in good paths.

Sometimes though we think we know better than God and don’t follow His leading even though He’s shown us the path He wants us to take. We think it has too much uncertainty attached to it, and because we like everything mapped out in advance we just sit down, like the dog, and refuse to budge! Or even worse we go the way we want to go and end up in the wrong place. I don’t know if you’ve ever done that, but I have! Jonah did it too and ended up in a whale of a mess!😊

Proverbs 3:5-6  (MSG) Trust God from the bottom of your heart, don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track.

You may be facing a crossroads of some kind and the path God wants you to take looks full of unknowns, it might not even look sensible to your mind but God is encouraging each one of us to take the first or next step, to trust Him even when it doesn’t always make sense. He can only lead us if we’re willing to follow. Don’t let’s be like the little dog who was only willing to go where he wanted to go and refused to follow his boss! That’s how we get stuck in a rut whether personally or in our work or even our churches!

God has a place for us to be, at the right time and the right place but we’ll only get there if we’re willing to follow His thoughts and plans and say ‘Lead on Lord, I’m right behind You.’ I know it may not be necessarily easy but I know it will be a blessing.😊
