Psalm 40:2 He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on ground and steadied me as I walked along.
Thankfully there are many times in our lives when everything is going well and we’re walking along very happily, but sometimes we go through things that can feel like a pit or a prison similar to the story of Joseph. We may hear people saying “What I’m going through is the pits” and maybe you’re having to deal with one of those just now or have done in the past?
Or perhaps your experience has been more like the prison Joseph was put in for something he didn’t do. How unfair it must have seemed. Perhaps you can identify with him on that one where life feels like you’re trapped in circumstances, or in a prison of fear or ill health or anything that holds us back when we want to move forward?

God never leaves us in the pit or the prison because Jesus has already bought and paid for our freedom. He’s given us His royal robe of righteousness, His authority to use His name, His Spirit to give us His power. He’s the God who delivers and rescues us when we call on Him and David said God brought him up out of the pit of despair and steadied him. How encouraging that is, as we all need lifting and steadying up sometimes.😊
Joseph had one of those happy endings we talked about yesterday, like Job, and I believe as we continue to follow the Lord He will bring us out of any pit or prison into our happy ending too, with a testimony that will be an encouragement and a blessing to others. Thank You Lord.
