LEAVE A TRAIL OF PEACE

James 3:17 But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It show no favouritism and is always sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.

I enjoy making mini cushions for people but this is one I haven’t been able to part with as it literally speaks peace to me whenever I come in the room and it catches my eye. Sometimes we need reminders don’t we, to be at peace or to be a peacemaker?

James tells us that wisdom is peace loving, gentle at all times and willing to yield to others. No doubt we’ve all known times when we forgot his words and those attributes were not foremost in our minds at the time!!

But he goes on to encourage us to plant seeds of peace and we all know that when we plant seeds of any kind it can take a while for them to come up, let alone bear a harvest! So really, when we sow peace we may have to have some patience before we see the fruit of it.😊

But what about the times when everyone is getting hot under the collar, when words are flying? Those times when you come into a room, whether it’s at work or home or wherever, and you can feel the tension, as though the atmosphere could be cut with a knife? It’s when we have to draw a breath and ask the Lord to help us sow some peace into the situation for immediate effect! It’s amazing how our words can inflame a situation or diffuse it and we get the choice which way we’ll run with it. Our words are powerful!

So today, it’s just an encouragement to be a peacemaker whenever we can be, and not only bring some of the fruit of God’s peace with us, but leave it behind wherever we go.

Jesus said He was leaving His peace behind with us, so let’s follow His example and do the same - leave a trail of peace behind us and it might even blossom into a harvest of joy!😊

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you…..
