Esther 6:1 That night the king had trouble sleeping, so he ordered an attendant to bring the book of the history of his reign so it could be read to him.
We pick up this story where Haman had had a decree passed by the King to have the Jews all killed on one day the following March. He was due to go with the King to a banquet at Queen Esther’s palace on the following day but had arranged for Mordecai, who was a Jew who refused to bow down to him, (not realising he was Esther’s uncle), to be impaled on a pole the following morning before he went to the party.
Meanwhile that very night the King couldn’t sleep and had his book of events read to him and discovered Mordecai had saved his life by reporting a planned assassination plot! It sounds like a film, doesn’t it! Anyway, the king decreed Mordecai was to be greatly honoured for his good deed, the tables were turned and it ended up with Haman being exposed as a wicked man at the banquet by Queen Esther and being impaled on the pole himself! All the Jews were also later rescued by Queen Esther’s intervention and bravery. She was God’s person for that moment in history and so are we! We are all here for such a time as this, as our lives touch others.Scripture repeatedly encourages us to know that God is in control of our lives. His timing is never late and amazingly accurate. He can cause a king to be sleepless so he does what God wants him to, and even turns death threats around overnight, so how much more can we have confidence that He can turn our situations around for good when we need Him to.😊
As we start another week, we can relax knowing God is going ahead of us, lovingly ordering our steps with His perfect timing, and blessing our lives as we trust and listen to Him. Thank You Lord.
Psalm 37:23 The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.
Have a blessed week.x
