INVITATION - COME TO ME

Matthew 11:28-30 Then Jesus said, “Come to Me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

Yesterday we looked at God saying “Look to Me, and Call to Me. Today He’s saying Come to Me”.

That’s the most important invitation we’ll ever receive while we’re on earth - to come to Jesus! What a lovely invitation it is, to come to the One who loves us to the Cross and back, who only wants to bless us and love us. He wants us to respond to His invitation because He knows we need His forgiveness, we need His rest. We need all He has to give us.

In today‘s busy world so many people have too much to do and too little time to fit it all in and God knows and understands. Jesus’ disciples had the same problem which is why He told them to come to Him and let Him give them His take on things, to learn from Him so they could deal with all they had to do without suffering burnout.

We often read how Jesus spent time in prayer with His Father before He started His day. He took time alone with God first, to commit it all to Him. We can all do that. It doesn’t have to be hours, just an ongoing recognition that God is in control of our lives, He’s guiding us through our day and He’ll equip us with the ability to do it well, if we do it allowing Him to pull the load with us.

So this is just a gentle reminder to continue to look to Jesus, to call on Him and most of all to come to Him before we do anything else each day. God never intended us to be weary and heavily loaded down. He wants to give us His rest in our souls, to live our lives easier, with Him to help us do it all. Amen.😊
