EVERY ACT OF KINDNESS

Proverbs 11:17 Your kindness will reward you, but your cruelty will destroy you. 

“Every act of kindness is a piece of love we leave behind.” So wrote Paul Williams the song writer, and I thought what a lovely quote it is.

Even a smile can be a drop in somebody’s ocean of sadness or loneliness. Being kind is anything that lifts up someone else and makes them feel better.  Even though it may seem so insignificant to us, it could be huge to them.

Just like there is a straw that breaks the camel’s back when the last horrible thing has happened, likewise an act of kindness and love could tip the scales in the other direction at the critical moment for somebody. It might just give them a new perspective, a hope that all is not lost, that somebody actually cares enough to be kind to them.

Being kind is for everyday, for everywhere, for everybody, for the rich or the poor, for the young and the old, for the lost and the found, for those we like and those we don’t. An act of love and kindness could be the all important link in the chain for someone to come to know God loves them and Jesus died for them. Only God knows and our verse encourages us to know every act of kindness will reap a reward.

So let’s go out today with the thought of leaving a piece of love behind with any act of kindness we perform knowing we’re being a blessing to someone we might not even know.😊
