ALL STEAMED UP!

Galatians 5:22-23 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. There is no law against these things!

Our steam iron has just died on us and although Chris took it to bits he discovered it had a big crack in it, so that is the end of that. It will never get steamed up again!

There are times when we seem to get all steamed up about things as well. When things don’t go according to our plan, or people say or do things that upset us and we feel steam beginning to rise on the inside of us, and cracks in our composure appear. Does that happen to you? It does me!😊

What do we do at those times? Well it helps to take a deep breath and remember God is still on the throne and He loves us even when others treat us wrongly. We need to remember who we are, an ambassador for Jesus and we don’t want to let Him down, especially as we have His Holy Spirit, the Greater One living in us to help us not let the steam erupt!

Galations 5 tells us we have all the fruit of His Spirit living on the inside of us which means we have His long-suffering, His patience and self control and we can call on that fruit to manifest because we walk not by the flesh but by the Spirit of God.

But what about the times when we forgot all that, maybe we took offence, and we erupted anyway? Well 1 John 1:9 says If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. There’s no need to delay telling Him about it as He knows as soon as it happens anyway! And thank God we can receive His forgiveness and ask for His grace to help us do better next time.

So whenever you feel the steam beginning to rise, just remember God loves you, you’re Christ’s ambassador and you’re not alone. The Helper is in you, and you can trust Him to sort things out. All will be well if you call on His grace and His wisdom to know how to handle it and keep your cool! Amen.😊
