Proverbs 10:6 NIV Blessings crown the head of the righteous, but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked.
Have you ever heard the expression “On your head be it!”, which means any trouble that comes because of your decision you’ll have to bear the consequences!?
You may think “well I don’t feel very righteous today, you don’t know what I did five minutes ago, or twenty years ago”, but our actions don’t remove our righteousness. It’s not what we’ve done but what Jesus has done for us at the Cross which matters. He has removed our sins as far as the east is from the west, past, present and future, and exchanged them for His righteousness.
He doesn’t give us His righteousness one minute and then take it away again when we sin. We all make mistakes sometimes but the blood of Jesus is greater than them all and He has cleansed us of all unrighteousness.
Everyday we can stand at the kitchen sink, or drive the car or stand at the bus stop and say over and over again, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Even though I don’t always feel like it, You said I am Lord, so I must be, and I thank You for Your gift of righteousness.” The more we do that and agree with God, the more we will find ourselves acting righteously.
When you have a minute this weekend you might like to look up Psalm 112 and Ephesians 1 to see some of the amazing blessings that belong to us because Jesus has made us righteous. There are too many for me to list but I pray we’ll bask in His blessings as we take time to realise what we have and thank God for each and every one of them. Amen.
Have a blessed weekend.πx
