THOROUGHLY EQUIPPED

2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

We’ve all probably read how the great explorers, before they set off on their expeditions, would make sure they were well equipped to get to their destination. The men who climbed Everest, or who led expeditions to the Antarctic would have prepared themselves ready to do it.

In the same way God has given us the required equipment for us, so we’re thoroughly equipped for doing whatever He’s calling us to do. He reminds us that it’s His word that is our equipment. When we put His word in our hearts then the Holy Spirit can bring it out when we need it.

Sometimes His word shows us where we have a wrong attitude, or the best way to do things. Other times it teaches us how to walk in faith, or walk in the righteousness that God has given to us. There are times when we know God has rebuked us and we’re wise if we listen to what He’s saying so we don’t make the same mistake over and over again. I’m giving myself a prod here!😊

The thing is God has a ‘work’ for each one of us. It may not be on a platform, but in a classroom or a workplace. It may be in the queue in a shop, or driving in traffic praying as we go along if He brings someone to mind. But whatever it is, God wants us to be well equipped, well trained for it.

So next time we read the scriptures, even a few verses, we can know it’s our Manufacturer’s Instruction Manual, authored by our Creator Himself, breathed out by Him for us to breathe in. I rather like that thought, don’t you? Any time we spend reading and studying the scriptures is never a waste of time, it’s God training and equipping us for our next expedition!😊

Thank You Lord for Your Instruction Manual. Help us to learn from it and most of all to remember it so we’re ready for every good work You have for us. In Jesus name. Amen.
