JOYFUL LIPS

Psalm 63:1-5 NKJV
O God, You are my God;
Early will I seek You;
My soul thirsts for You;
My flesh longs for You
In a dry and thirsty land
Where there is no water.
2 So I have looked for You in the sanctuary,
To see Your power and Your glory.
3 Because Your lovingkindness is better than life,
My lips shall praise You.
4 Thus I will bless You while I live;
I will lift up my hands in Your name.
5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness,
And my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.

Joyful lips! Our lips aren’t always joyful are they? Sometimes it’s a sacrifice to praise when all around us is not as it should be, but it’s all the more precious to God when we do

Our Psalmist encourages us first of all to seek and thirst after our God, to see His power and glory. He realises there’s nothing better than God’s lovingkindness in his life and it just makes him want to burst out in praise.😊

He was writing this psalm while he was in the wilderness of Judah so it’s not surprising he talks about a dry and thirsty land. Even when we may feel as though we’re in a bit of a dry wilderness situation we can learn from David because he still blesses his God and lifts his hands to praise Him.

So today, no matter whether it feels like we’re stuck in a wilderness, or all is tickety boo, let’s give our God first place and seek Him above all else. Let’s give Him all the praise He’s so worthy of and all the glory, with joyful lips, because our God is for us and not against us and He loves us with an everlasting love. That’s something to be joyful about!😊

Lord we bless Your wonderful name and seek Your face because You have given us today and we praise You for Your loving kindness to us with joyful, thankful lips. In Jesus name. Amen.
