Deuteronomy 33:26-27 (NLT)
There is no one like the God of Israel.
He rides across the heavens to help you, the skies in majestic splendor.
The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you.
He drives out the enemy before you; he cries out, ‘Destroy them!’
In Psalm 40:5 David reminds us that our God has no equal, that there is no one who comes anywhere near to being able to compare with Him. How wonderful. Our God is so far above, so much greater and more powerful than any devil, any principality or power, or anyone else, they just can’t be compared in any way. That thought will hold us steady through anything.🙂
It’s this God who Moses is reminding us is our refuge, the One person above all others that we can run to and discover His everlasting arms are already holding us up, undergirding us through the toughest of days or trials.
Not only that He lets us know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God is doing something about our enemies, those things that try to defeat or bring us down. He states as an irrefutable fact that God would drive those enemies out before us, shouting destruction at them. And now we are this side of the Cross we’ve seen Jesus do just that. He’s brought every enemy down. We have the victory! That’s something for us to shout about too!😊
The next time you’re in the thick of a problem or a great difficulty remember that your awesome God who rides across the heavens to come to your aid, is now actually living inside you by the power of His own Holy Spirit. No matter how insignificant you might think you are, He thinks you are that important to Him. He is on your case. What a thought! This is the most powerful Being of all, the One above all others, and He comes to our rescue, so we don’t need to get in a panic about whatever it is that’s trying to threaten us.
As we sing the Lord’s praises today let’s remember afresh His greatness, His great love for us and how He will always be there for us - His everlasting arms are under us right now.
We can keep that picture fixed firmly in our minds.🙂
Psalm 40:5 O Lord my God, you have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all your wonderful deeds I would never come to the end of them.
We praise You Father God for all Your wonderful goodness and mercy to us today. Amen.
