Mark 14:28 But after I am raised from the dead, I will go ahead of you to Galilee and meet you there.
It’s so much easier, when we have to go somewhere, if there is someone there who already knows the territory, or the best places to visit and the ones to avoid. Or maybe if you visit relatives in another country, you know you can relax because you’re confident they’ll make sure you’re ok.😊In the same way, Jesus was telling his disciples and us, that He is going ahead of us into whatever situation is going to crop up. Not only that, but He assures us He will meet us there. He had previously told His disciples to follow Him, which is another way of saying He will be going ahead into their tomorrows. They were all eating their last meal with Jesus and He knew their world was about to be rocked but He also knew Sunday was on the way! Resurrection was in their tomorrow in three days time!
I have a little card which says ‘I don’t need to worry about tomorrow because God is already there.’ If you’re like me you’ll find that so reassuring. You see, God is never taken by surprise when something happens which we didn’t see coming. He already knows about it and has the solution all prepared. All we have to do is keep our eyes on our Shepherd, put our hand in His and say “What now, Lord?”
Scripture tells us not to worry about tomorrow, that God is making our crooked paths straight, that He will guide our footsteps along the right path. In other words, when we stay close to Him, listening to our Good Shepherd’s voice, we won’t get lost or overwhelmed because He knows the way through whatever is coming.
In a way He’s saying, “Just relax, rest in Me because I’ve got you covered, but I’ve also got your back and I have a tight hold on your hand, so you’re safe.” He’s reminding us that you or I can do all things through Christ who strengthens us - no matter what tomorrow may bring, because He’s already gone ahead of us and prepared the way. Thank You Lord.
