Psalm 145 is such a wonderful psalm, it is so uplifting and I’m sure we could all benefit from being uplifted! I hope you have a moment or two to read all of it today.😊
David was a man who had learned, before he did anything else, to exalt his God and King. He acknowledged that there was Someone far greater than himself, or any other person who ever lived. He loved to praise the Lord and give Him the place of High Honour He is so worthy of, and declared he would do it forever.
We can learn a lot from his way of doing things in our here and now. He says he will praise God every single day. I wonder if we consciously do that? I know I’ll spontaneously say ‘Praise God ‘at some point in the day, but he demonstrated spending time each day praising God as part of his daily routine.
When we’re getting bogged down with the things that are happening around us, we can lift our eyes up and start praising our God too, so we remember how powerful He is. We’ll bring down the forces of darkness at the same time because we know praise defeats our enemy!😊
He reminds himself that his God is so great, so powerful, so above and beyond every other force trying to come against him, that he just had to declare it and as he heard himself speaking or singing God’s greatness, his faith would grow and he would be encouraged. We read in another passage how David knew how to encourage himself in the Lord, when it looked like all was lost, and we can do the same.
So wherever you are today and whatever else you are doing, let’s sing praises to our God and declare His greatness to one another as we worship Him because He is always worthy of all our praise. Amen.
