HOLD ON TO YOUR PROGRESS

Philippians 3:16 NLT But we must hold on to the progress we have already made.

Learning new software on the computer is not easy and if I leave it for a few days I forget what I’ve just learned! I need to hang on to the progress I’ve already made by practicing it over and over again or I forget! It’s like that with any new skill we’re learning and the thing is not to be discouraged or feel defeated when we don’t ’get it’ straight away. Some things take time and practice, so don’t let one setback put you off!😊

In the same way God wants us to hang on to our spiritual progress, to the things we’ve already learned, and keep practicing or we’ll forget. Did the Holy Spirit show us a new verse this past week that we need to have another look at so we can remember it? Maybe you wrote it down so you wouldn’t forget?

We may have made some progress in other areas, our relationships, our finances, our health. Let’s hold on to the progress we’ve made and not slide back. Any small progress is something to celebrate. 😊

God says we’re all responsible for our own growth. He gives us His word to instruct, rebuke, encourage - whatever we need - but we have to apply it and practice it for us to reach any kind of spiritual maturity which is what God wants for us. Paul talks about going from the milk to the solid food of the word.(Hebrews 5:12-14)

We’re all learning in life but let’s make every effort to hold on to our progress so we don’t have to go round the same mountain again and have to learn it all over again! I’ve done that a few times!😊

So God is encouraging us today to hold on to the progress we’ve made, keep going, keep encouraging one another in every way, but especially the things of God and know God is smiling down on us as we grow to be more like Jesus each day. Amen.
