Proverbs 12:25 Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up.
Has someone or something been piling worry on you lately? Are worries weighing you down? Sometimes we receive a text with bad news about a family member and we start to worry, or we watch something on the news and we lose our peace, we let worry enter in. It happens to all of us and we all have to deal with it.
I had a text this week saying my niece had been taken to hospital in an ambulance while on holiday, please pray. It didn't say 'please worry!' It said please pray and that's the key.
If we're praying in faith we'll release the worry to God and trust Him for a good outcome. If we're praying in fear then the worry will stick with us.
Worry is fear based and the only thing that casts out fear is faith. So what are we to have faith in? Our faith is in the truth that God is for us and not against us, that nothing can separate us from His great love for us. Faith believes He wants the best for us. Faith believes that God is protecting us and He goes before us and is our rearguard, that He's providing for us and that all things are possible with Him.
Maybe we're worried about our unsaved family. Jesus said faith will move any mountain, and that all things are also possible to him who believes.
Now, who are we believing - Jesus or our worries? Let's be honest with ourselves!
Our job is to believe for their salvation, that no one is too far gone to be put right with God. We can pray they get a revelation that God has already forgiven them and loves them. We can pray the scales will fall off their eyes where they're deceived by the enemy's lies and deceits. We can thank God He's actively chasing them down and softening their hearts. We can praise Him for their salvation in advance. Worry won't save them but believing faith in a merciful God will!
Let's stop worrying and come back to believing.
