DO YOU NEED COMFORTING?

Psalm 119:49-50 Remember your promise to me; it is my only hope. Your promise revives me; it comforts me in all my troubles.

Had any troubles this week? Need a bit of reviving perhaps? Could you do with something to comfort you in the midst of it all?  Well don't go the fridge or the cake tin! (well ok, just have one cake😊), because I have good news today.  Our Psalmist discovered for himself that it's God promises that will do all of that for us when we believe them and receive them for ourselves personally as a word from God to us.

So whatever is troubling you or trying to get you off balance or afraid, go to the Word of God, get your bible out and dig out His promises yet again, write them out if you have to.

When I suffered with post natal depression for the first year after my first baby was born I had to literally repeat something ten times before I could get out of bed and put my feet to the floor. The verse was 'I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me'(Philippians 4:13). My brain said I couldn't, but God said I could so I had to re-educate my brain!

When I couldn't face the day, when every single thing seemed to overwhelm me, so I couldn't even hang the nappies on the line, when I just wanted to cry my eyes out all the time, there was only one answer and it was God's promises to me and His assurance that He loved me and always would.

When I'd lost all my confidence I had to remember 'I can do this with God's help and His strength.'  Did my confidence just suddenly return? No, God had to rebuild me from the inside out, one brick at a time and the thing He used was His Word and He'll do the same for you.

Let Him comfort you today as you read what He has promised you. Sit beside Him on the sofa again and as He holds your hand, hear Him tell you again "I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. I will not. I will not, I will not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let you down or relax My hold on you! Assuredly not!  (Hebrews 13:5 Amplified Bible).

Thank You Lord so much.
