Isaiah 3:10 Tell the godly that all will be well for them....
What does God mean when He says all will be well for the godly? There are times when we look at our circumstances or other godly people and we think things looks bad and like it's gone totally pear shaped! Or maybe you've hit rock bottom and you're struggling to see the way back up. It sure doesn't feel like 'all is well!'
The thing is God takes a long term view of our lives. His plans can span decades not months or even years. It's like being in the middle of a cricket match and the scores are against you at the minute but the match isn't over yet. Your team will win!
Look at the life of Joseph who was sold as a slave just because he was a show off, then he's thrown in prison accused of seducing his bosses wife, which he never did. Life was turning out pretty unfair for him and he spent 13 years either in jail or as a slave. It didn't look like all was well and yet.... on several occasions we read the favour of God was on Joseph! Without the favour of God He would probably have never survived.
As we read on in scripture we find God's favour turns situations around and sometimes it can happen overnight as in Joseph's case. One minute he's down in the dungeon, needing a good shave, definitely not wearing a designer jacket and the next we see him standing before Pharaoh, shaved, with a smart hair cut and wearing some nice kit. And what is happening? ...he's being used by God to prepare a nation ready to survive famine, preparing the way for his father's family to be fed and not starve, preparing a 'place' for them to move to where they will have the best of the land. He's made ruler second only to Pharaoh himself but it didn't happen till God said so and the time was right. Joseph hung in there with a good attitude and God honoured that.
Because God's plans span decades and we are all part of His plan the good news is God does turn things around for our good and in the end 'all will be well' for us if we hang in there and keep trusting and believing in God's faithfulness and goodness to us. It may not be the way we thought because God's ways are not our ways but we need to have faith that we will see the goodness of God in the land of the living. (Psalm 27:13)
Be encouraged, we're only part way through the cricket match, and when the time is right, God will turn things around and all will be well for you too.
