Hebrews 13:20-21 Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
On January 31st we looked at Jesus our Good Shepherd but today we're looking at Jesus our Great Shepherd which is different.
If you can, take time to read our verse a few times because the word 'great' there means mighty. Jesus is our Mighty Shepherd, all powerful, and nothing and no one can defeat Him. He has overcome the world and the devil for us and it was His shed blood that enabled God the Father to give us the new covenant where we are forgiven, made righteous and accepted in His eyes because of what Jesus did. No wonder God calls Him our Great Shepherd! Thank You Lord. We give you all the glory for ever and ever.
He tells us it's through our Great Shepherd that God makes us complete. The margin of my bible says He perfects us. What a lovely thought that is, to be complete as far as God is concerned, not lacking or less than, but perfect in His sight because of Jesus.
I am so grateful we have a Great Shepherd who completes and perfects us, equips us and produces in us all the good things He wants us to do that please Him.
So just to remind us:
