Psalm 1:3 Blessed is the man .... whose delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth it's fruit in it's season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.
The Holy Spirit encourages us to not just read God's word but to meditate in it. The margin of my bible says to meditate means 'ponder by talking to himself'. Do you ever find yourself talking to yourself? I think we all do it sometimes and it can be good or bad depending on what we're saying! 😊
God is actually telling us here to talk scriptures to ourselves, to ponder on them, mull them over in our minds, then speak them out. In other words, under our breath, all through the day, we keep saying what God says in His word that He loves us deeply, that we're forgiven, that we're strong in Him, that He's for us, that He's working things out for our good, that we're blessed because He's made us righteous, and so on.
He promises that when we do that then we shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that we shall bring forth fruit, our leaf shall not wither and whatever we do shall prosper. (v.3) It doesn't say we might, it says we shall!
What a wonderful incentive to keep God's word constantly coming out of our mouths! 😊
So if we've been talking to ourselves and muttering under our breath about the cost of living increasing or whatever, as we start a new week, let's instead start doing some pondering and talking God's word to ourselves all through each day and see our lives begin to prosper more and more.
Have a blessed week. 😊
