Philippians 4:19 God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.
I’ve been given 24 envelopes to open, one each day of Advent leading up to Christmas Day and today’s envelope had our verse on it so it inspired me.😊It’s a constant reminder that we are not trying to provide for ourselves but that we have a Provider and He is not poor, He is rich! There are times when we need to know and stand on that verse, with the conviction that God doesn’t lie to us and that what He has promised, He will do.
In the context of that verse Paul tells us the people he was referring to had given sacrificially to help God’s people even though they had very little to give. God has this way of doing things which is so contrary to the world.
Luke 6:38 Jesus says to give and it will be given to us. We think that’s backwards and want to be given to first, so we can then give something.
1 Kings 17:7-16 Elijah asked the widow of Zarephath to give him some of her provisions before she and her son ate their last meal as they were on the point of starvation. He wasn’t being mean, he knew God’s principle of giving first so God could multiply it back to her.
As she made the last bit of bread in faith I wonder if she struggled to share what she had? As a result of her obedience God blessed her and her son, and their supply of flour and oil miraculously never ran out. She gave out of her need and God blessed her.
Maybe you have a need of some kind in your life at the minute? Is God reminding you to give something so He can multiply it back to you? It may be money, or time, or something else.
God says He loves a cheerful giver, and not to give reluctantly. So whatever He prompts us to give, let’s do it in faith with grateful hearts, knowing He will multiply it back to us and provide all our needs, whatever they are, according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Amen.😊
