2 Kings 8:5 NLT And Gehazi was telling the king about the time Elisha had brought a boy back to life. At that very moment, the mother of the boy walked in to make her appeal to the king about her house and land. “Look, my lord the king!” Gehazi exclaimed. “Here is the woman now, and this is her son—the very one Elisha brought back to life!”
I love remarkable stories and this is one of those where timing was amazing and obedience was rewarded yet again! Elisha had told the Shunamite woman to go to Egypt as there would be seven years of famine in Israel, so she obeyed. Seven long years later when the famine ended she returned to her home town and went to see the king about getting back her house and land which I think must have taken some faith!!
Meanwhile, Gehazi, Elisha’s servant, ‘just happened’ to be telling the King all about the miracle Elisha performed by bringing this lady’s son back to life. She walked in at the exact moment the King was hearing all about her. He was astonished and as a result he restored everything back that belonged to her seven years before!
Seven years ago! No contact in between, no letter or email to book an appointment with the King. She just walked in to the blessing because she’d been obedient seven years before! God saved her from seven years of worry and hardship during the famine and then everything she had given up was restored to her. It pays to be obedient!😊
Don’t you think that’s a remarkable and encouraging story of the goodness of our God? He is the same today as He was then and it encourages us again to just do as He tells us and leave Him to sort out the timing of everything else, regardless of how long it is!
God’s timing is amazing and a friend sent me the song below about God’s time, at the same time as I was reading this story which confirmed this word, so I’ve put the song link below if you’d like to listen.
Be blessed and encouraged as you obey His instructions, and wait on God’s perfect timing for your life too, whether it’s in the small details, or the bigger things.😊Amen.
