HIT ANY BRICK WALLS LATELY?

John 15:5 Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.

We all have things to do and they do say if you want something done ask a busy person.🙂 We tend to be either doers or spectators but our verse says Jesus wants us to be doers, to be fruit bearers, but reminds us we can’t successfully produce any fruit unless we’re doing it through Him and with Him

We may think bearing fruit is doing a great work for God but some of the fruit He wants to see is what the Holy Spirit produces - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control, in our every day lives.

Have you ever tried to do something and it just doesn’t want to come together, it’s like batting your head against a brick wall? It’s when we need patience and self control, isn’t it?!🙂 When that happens to me I try to remember to stop and see if it’s because I’ve been trying to do it with my own strength and wisdom instead of asking the Lord for His.

It affects everything we do, whether we’re making important executive decisions or baking a cake, God’s grace is there for every part of life. We may be doing paperwork, raising children, trying to sort out chaos at work or looking after someone who is poorly, whatever it is we’re doing, as long as we’re doing it with the Lord’s help and input, then His supernatural grace will be available to help us to do it and get us through it.
2 Corinthians12:9 Each time he said, My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.

God promises He will give us enough grace for each new day, for each task, and He says we can come to His throne for an extra dose of it whenever we need it, even if it’s every five minutes! God never short changes us. He is always generous with His grace - more than enough for today and the same again tomorrow and so on.

So, if you’ve been struggling, or feeling overwhelmed, or frustrated with the way things have gone, our verse reminds us Jesus says in effect don’t try to do anything without Him, or to put it the other way round, do everything, no matter how trivial, with Him. Philippians 4:13 For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

Lord we commit the day to you and ask for your overflowing grace for every moment of it. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
