Psalm 34:18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
God’s word often shares with us the emotions of those who have gone before us and we may, or may not have experienced those same emotions, but if we have, then we know how devastating they can be at the time. It can feel like nothing will ever be the same again, that we may never recover, but if we keep our eyes on Jesus we can and we do.🙂
Hebrews 4:15 tells us that Jesus is our High Priest who experienced everything we will ever have to deal with so He totally understands what things feel like, but He does more than empathise because He does something about it which is why it goes on … v.16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
He doesn’t expect us to cope on our own but He wants us to know He is so close to us when the bottom has been knocked out of our world, that He is right there beside us. He’s promised to rescue us when we’re so crushed in spirit we can’t seem to function. He wants us to know there is always hope, that He can turn things around for our good if we’ll hang in there and trust Him.
Scripture tells us over and over again God has promised to care for us and meet our needs, that there is no giant, no mountain that God’s grace can’t deal with - it is more than enough, He is more than enough. We all experience ‘Why?’ moments, but far better to go beyond the ‘Why’ and just say “I trust You Lord” and allow Him to bring us out the other side - not in defeat, but in victory.
So be encouraged today and come afresh to receive whatever grace and mercy you need. Know that He’s the God of all comfort and hope and He’s working behind the scenes working things out for your good. And don’t forget He has promised you a crown of beauty for the ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning (Isaiah 61:3), but not only that, He promises to heal the brokenhearted and heal their wounds.(Psalm 147:3) What a compassionate Father God we have.😊
Thank You Lord Jesus for Your promises and Your grace and mercy available to us today. Amen.
