I don’t know if you’ve ever watched a toy train set being played with when the train comes off the track as it rounds a bend? The whole train is derailed and I kept hearing that word in my spirit this morning ‘derailed’.
We’re all travelling along the Faith Track, but sometimes we hit a bend in our journey and we can become derailed, either momentarily, or other times it takes a while to get back on track! But God is the engineer of all our lives and He promises He will work all things together for our good in the end.
The thing is, we have to want to get back on track, want to seek to obey His word because of all Jesus went through to redeem us from the enemy. The Holy Spirit is saying we need to pursue some things, to persevere, in order to stay on track, or get back on track.
What are we pursuing? Have we become derailed by taking offence at someone’s attitude or comment? Derailed by the demands of life? Derailed by other interests? It doesn’t take much to become distracted and if we’re driving a car and become distracted we can hit a lamppost! Lord keep us from lampposts!😊
Paul is very serious though as he instructs us to pursue the right things - righteousness, a godly life, faith, perseverance and gentleness. If we’ll pursue those things we won’t be derailed, but if we have been knocked off our course we have an Advocate, an Intercessor in the Lord Jesus who pleads our case with our Father and reminds Him we have been declared not guilty so we can get back on track straight away.
So this is just to encourage us as we begin another week to keep on the Faith Track, avoid lampposts and pursue everything God tells us to, and we won’t be derailed. In Jesus name. Amen.😊
