Matthew 11:28-30 NLT Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
I was chatting with someone a little while ago and they were saying how sometimes they can be half way through the day and they realise they haven’t talked to the Lord. Maybe you’ve had days when you’ve maybe slept in, no time for breakfast, so didn’t take as much time to pray because you were running late, too many things pressing in on you and suddenly realise, like that lady, that you’re doing life in your own strength without God’s help.Jesus wanted us to know life is easier when we include the One who holds the universe together, who gives us breath, and the strength to get out of bed, to go to work, to school, to do whatever we have to do. He can help us hold it together too!😊
God never intended us to do life on our own, or carry the cares of the world on our own shoulders.
Jesus said to not let our hearts be troubled but to come to Him because His yoke is easy and His burden is light. So, when we’re doing things joined to Him, alongside Him, we know His ability, His wisdom and strength are available to us to tap into.
As we roll out of bed each morning and as we begin another week, let’s imagine Jesus is sat on the end of the bed waiting for us to wake up and let Him guide and help us through each task we have to do. Whether it’s trying to get going on a Monday morning, or leading a group meeting at work, whether it’s the school run or the walk in the park, let’s see Jesus beside us, listening to all our concerns, helping and encouraging us in it all, because He is, because He loves us. Amen.😊
