GOD’S WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAMME

Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

‘Nothing is depending on you!” The Lord dropped that thought in my head the other day. Maybe you think everything is depending on you, that there is no one else who can do it! We sometimes see it in the world of work. People think they’re the only ones who can do their job but when they leave suddenly, someone always steps in to fill the gap and life goes on.😊

The enemy wants us to feel weighed down with the thought we have to do, or be something, and if we try to live life in our own strength we become stressed and distressed. But God is telling us that we don’t have to do life in our own strength because He has given us His Holy Spirit to help us walk through each day.

Take heart, because Jesus knows our tendency to get weighed down which is why He said, “Come to me all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.” God has a weight loss programme but have we joined it? Are we coming to Him moment by moment for Him to lift the weight off?

He doesn’t say, “I know you’ve got a lot on at the minute, but here, take this extra load, here’s something more to worry about, you’ll be all right!” No! He says He offers us rest if we’ll take it! He offers to bear the load with us if we’re willing to be yoked to Him and not to the situation! 

Maybe you feel yoked to your situation at the minute, and if you do, then ask Jesus to carry the responsibility instead of you. When we realise that everything is depending on God and nothing is depending on us, it allows Him to carry the weight. 

Let’s not take on God’s job, but see ourselves as co-workers, remembering He is leading and guiding, He’s walking with us and we’re yoked to Him. 

Maybe we could all do with that kind of weight loss!😊 Amen.
