Psalm 30:11 NLT You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy,
We all decide what to wear when we wake up each day and it’s often determined by what we’re going to do. We may be asked to wear a uniform for work and we have no choice in the matter but I expect we all enjoy having new clothes from time to time, to brighten us up!😊But in our verses today God wants to take away some of our old clothes, those clothes of mourning over what has been lost, those people or plans or jobs that didn’t work out.
They might be clothes of grumpy, bad attitudes or negative thinking that pull us down. God says to put on the garment of praise to lift off the spirit of heaviness. He wants to lift off those worn out clothes that were for a different time, and instead give us a new set of clothes of joy for today.😊
The trouble is we can be reluctant to take off some of our old clothes, our old way of thinking and doing things, because we’ve become so familiar with them, like an old shirt, and we don’t feel comfortable letting them go. But God is saying it’s time to put off the old, to stop using them to hide behind and come out in our new clothes so we can be blessed and be a blessing to somebody else.
God wants us to wear His robe of righteousness, His armour of love and shield of faith to believe for the impossible. To wear His helmet of salvation that gives us His ways of thinking and doing things that will give us His joy.
So maybe it’s time to let Him put a smile on our faces and wear our new clothes with confidence and joy and a sense of expectation of good things to come.😊 In Jesus name. Amen.
