Psalm 43:4 NLT There I will go to the altar of God, to God - the source of all my joy. I will praise you with my harp, O God, my God.
I wonder what your normal source of joy is and what is joy anyway? Is it a doughnut moment? Is it a an hour or two unwinding with a screen or favourite hobby? Is it time spent with the family, giving and receiving their love?
Or is it a deep inner contentment, an inner bubble of happiness in spite of what may be happening around us, knowing we’re forgiven, at peace with God, knowing He loves us and that He’s our source of everything we shall ever need in life.
It’s knowing we’re safe in His hands and He has given us the promise of eternity with Him. Paul goes on and says in Romans 8:32 NLT Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?
James 1:17 NLT Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father,… So our joy is in knowing God is the source of everything good in our lives and He wants to bless us, provide and protect us. Jesus reminds us that if we seek His kingdom and righteousness first and lay hold of it for ourselves, then all these other things we need will be added to us anyway, even the desires of our hearts. What a source of joy our God is!😊
We may not have a harp to play but we do have our voices to sing praises, so next time you’re needing to tap into your source of joy why not go round the house and sing ‘Oh happy day, when Jesus washed my sins away’ and allow His joy to bubble up inside you once again, and maybe have a doughnut as well! 🤣
Have a blessed weekend everybody.x😊
