NOT SHAKEN

Psalm 16:8 NLT 8 I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.

The other day we went to Newstead Abbey to see the azaleas. In one part of the grounds (not in photo) were the ancient ruins of the abbey which was built in the 13th Century and where the monks worshipped for many years. In front of them was a vintage funfair being set up for the holiday weekend and I wondered what the monks would have made of it all if they could time travel to see it today!

Even though times and cultures change, and peoples’ attitudes change constantly, our God does not change, which is so reassuring. Our God is the one constant in a shifting world and even though our world does get rocked sometimes, He promises His hold on us will not be shaken, that we’re secure in Him. The Psalmist explained it was because God was right beside Him, but if our trust is in Jesus it’s even better, because His Spirit is on the inside of us!😊

We may experience things that feel like we’re being shaken but God reminds us that He is our rock, our anchor no matter what happens and He will never abandon us. Whether it’s epidemics, family upsets, or diseases, we can still come to Him day and night and know He’s listening. In fact, even before we ask He says He’s already answering, to uphold and help us.

So next time everything around you looks unsettled or uncertain, or the world around you is being shaken, remember we can keep coming back to God and His word which says…

Psalm 62:6 NLT He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken.

Thank You Father You never change, You are always faithful, and You are holding us steady when all around may be shaking. Thank You for Jesus who is the same yesterday, today and forever. Amen.
